🧠 What Is Functional Neurology?
Functional Neurology is a brain-based approach to treating pain, tension, movement issues, stress and emotional overwhelm. Instead of just looking at where your pain is, I look at how your brain and nervous system are controlling it.
Everything in your body — your posture, your pain levels, your stress response, your digestion, even your child’s ability to concentrate — is directed by the nervous system. If the communication between your brain and body becomes out of sync, it shows up as symptoms like:
Chronic pain or tightness
Clumsiness or poor coordination
Anxiety or difficulty regulating emotions
Learning or behavioural difficulties
Feeling stuck, foggy, or on edge all the time
These aren't just surface-level issues. They're signs your brain is working too hard to keep you "safe" — often because of old patterns it hasn't let go of.
What I Can Help With
Adults often come to me for help with:
Chronic pain that hasn’t improved with massage or physio
Shoulder, neck or jaw tension
Headaches or migraines
Trouble sleeping or winding down
Feeling anxious, overwhelmed or stuck
Post-surgery tension and pain
Feeling “wired and tired” all the time
And for kids (or mums looking for support), I can help with:
Anxiety or emotional outbursts
Poor focus or concentration
Sensory issues or clumsiness
Trouble falling or staying asleep
Bed wetting
Behavioral challenges
Learning difficulties or reading struggles
These aren’t just symptoms — they’re signs your nervous system needs a reset. That’s where I come in.
How It Works
Each session is tailored to what your body needs most — whether that’s calming the nervous system, releasing emotional or physical blockages, or restoring healthy movement patterns.
I don’t just treat the surface. I look for the root cause of your stress or dysfunction, often found in how your brain and body are communicating. When we reset that connection, everything else improves — pain eases, emotions settle, and your body works better
Short, Effective Sessions — Without the Homework
If your child struggles to sit still, focus, or follow instructions…
…then being sent home with a list of daily drills or exercises probably isn’t going to help. It just adds more stress to your already busy life.
That’s why my kids sessions are just 30 minutes — short enough to keep your child engaged, but powerful enough to create lasting changes.
Using advanced techniques in functional neurology and reflex integration, we can address multiple retained primitive reflexes in just 1 to 2 sessions — without needing weeks of homework, exercises, or special tools.
These gentle, hands-on techniques work directly with the nervous system to:
Switch off reflexes that are still "stuck on"
Improve brain-body communication
Support better behaviour, focus, and emotional regulation
There’s no drilling, no stretching, and no overwhelm — just real, targeted support that fits into your life, not the other way around.
Because when we treat the root cause, change happens quickly.
Your Child Feels What You Feel — Literally.
If you’re feeling burnt out, anxious, or overwhelmed — no matter how hard you try to hide it — your child can sense it. That’s not your fault. It’s biology.
Up until around age 7, children co-regulate through their mother’s nervous system. They don’t have the wiring yet to calm themselves — they’re wired to mirror you.
This is where mirror neurons come in. These are special brain cells that help us “feel into” what someone else is feeling — like how babies cry when their mum is upset, or how kids get anxious in a tense household. It’s a built-in system that helps children learn through connection.
So if you're constantly running on empty…
…if you're reactive, exhausted, or wired but tired…
…your child will unconsciously mirror that state too.
That’s why your nervous system matters just as much as theirs.
When you’re regulated — emotionally grounded, calm in your body, and clear in your mind — your child starts to feel safe. They begin to relax, focus better, and respond more easily to challenges.
You’ll also notice:
You’re less triggered by the little things
You don’t spiral when routines fall apart
You handle meltdowns with more calm and confidence
You stop carrying guilt and start feeling capable again
And the beautiful part? You don’t need hours of meditation or a 3-week retreat to get there.
Just like your child, your brain and body can shift quickly when we work at the level of the nervous system.
When mums get regulated, the whole household changes.
Because your nervous system is the anchor for your family.
Let’s start with you.
